Kenai Peninsula Borough School District tailors grade groupings to meet regional community needs. Kenai Middle serves grades 6–8, while Skyview Middle and Homer Middle accommodate grades 7–8. In the southern peninsula, Homer's Paul Banks covers K–2 and West Homer spans grades 3–6, while remote communities such as Nanwalek and Port Graham operate complete K–12 village schools.
Charter school offerings include Aurora Borealis (K–8), Soldotna Montessori (K–6), and Fireweed Academy (K–6), with admissions governed by public lotteries when enrollment applications exceed capacity.
Home learning is supported through Connections Homeschool, offering resource offices in Soldotna, Homer, and Seward while allowing homeschooled students to enroll in neighborhood electives and participate in interscholastic sports.
