Northwest Arctic Borough School District serves the regional hub of Kotzebue alongside surrounding Iñupiat villages. In Kotzebue, students attend June Nelson Elementary and Kotzebue Middle High School, while outlying communities are anchored by local K–12 village campuses.
College and career preparation begins in middle school, where students in grades 6–12 develop electronic Personal Learning and Career Plans (PLCP) via AKCIS. Through the STAR of the Northwest Magnet School, high schoolers earn dual high school and college credits in partnership with the Alaska Technical Center and Chukchi College.
